The Dovecote is a renovated stone cottage on a country lane one and a half miles from Broad Haven's sandy beach.
Set on a farm dating back to the 14th Century, it retains many original features including the dovecote and is well away from any farming activity. Solar power and water recycling help to make this cottage eco-friendly.
Comfortably furnished, the cosy open plan living space leads into a hardwood conservatory which provides a sunny second sitting area overlooking the enclosed garden with paved patio where you can dine alfresco on a summer’s evening. Enjoy feeding the birds and watch them arrive from the comfort of the cottage.
There is a double bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor while stairs lead up to a twin room nestling in the eaves. The rear door opens onto the courtyard adorned with prettily planted pots, this area is shared with the main farmhouse. Wander the shared grounds with a super woodland and pond side walk, this natural wild area has been lovingly planted with rare trees and plants by the owner and her family over the years. A peaceful spot to get back to nature. Bird and wildlife lovers will be delighted with many regular sightings of woodpeckers, finches, wagtails, herons, moorhens, mallards, badgers and foxes and much more.
A public footpath leading to Haroldston woods and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is only a few yards from the cottage, this really is the best way to explore this stunning coastline, take advantage of the Puffin Shuttle for the return journey.
Broad Haven with its beautiful golden sandy beach is only 1.5 miles away children will love spending their days building sand castles, swimming in the sea and investigating rock pools. There is a water sports hire shop here as well as excellent village shop, local pub serving good food, restaurant and cafes. Over the headland lies Little Haven a sheltered sandy inlet popular with water sports enthusiasts and families alike. There are a range of facilities clustered round the shoreline. A beach ride at nearby Nolton should not be missed. There are a wealth of beaches and interesting places to visit all within a short drive including Newgale, Solva and St Davids, while the Dale peninsula is nearby, marvel at Dale, Marloes, Musslewick Sands and of course Martins Haven the embarkation point for Skomer Island to visit the Puffins.
The Dovecote is a cosy, all year round retreat for a small family or couple, rural, but within easy reach of many local attractions.

Wonderful cottage and warm welcome. Beautiful setting lovely and peaceful to recharge your batteries. This is our fifth visit and we will be back. Thank you for a brilliant time.
We’ve had a lovely stay and have managed to get out for walks on the beautiful coastal path every day. We’ve really enjoyed the peace at the cottage with no noise other than the birds.
Easy to see why people keep coming back! We were lucky with the weather and did all the usual beach things: rock pools, sandcastles, swimming, surfing, fishing and relaxing. Thank you for the lovely accommodation.
Thank you for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in your lovely cottage. The views from each window, the ponds, the birds and the warmth made us relax and unwind between walks on coastal paths in this most beautiful part of the world.
Wonderful!! Thank you so much for everything, but above all the wisdom and kindness!
A wonderful, relaxing week. Cottage very comfortable and well-appointed! We have enjoyed the coast walks in beautiful sunny weather.
Lovely cosy cottage, very well equipped. Great base to explore the surrounding area. St David’s Cathedral… Wow! Lovely beach walks with the dog.
Very nice relaxing week. Cottage good, thank you for your hospitality.
We had a lovely time - sun, walks on the beach and a fun New Years Eve at The Druidstone. Thank you very much
Lovely, cosy base to explore local area. Great walk to Little Haven for a drink and sandwich. Marloes is fantastic! Thank you
Enjoyed Haverfordwest museum, castle and farmers market (fridays). Broad Haven is a great running beach for dogs, Carew Castle and Mill is well worth a visit.
We've had a wonderful 2 weeks exploring this beautiful area. Thank you for your hospitality and providing such a well equipy and clean cottage - best we've ever been in! The time has passed so quickly and we seem to have spent most of it around Marloes, though we did manage to get to Pembroke Castle which was by far the best castle we've ever explored! We will hopefully contact you with the name of the mystery plant - if we can suss it out! See you next year
Picked a perfect week to come down, beautiful weather in a glorious location. Cottage has been perfect very homely and well stocked. Wouldnt have picked anywhere else. Thanks!
What a great week we have had. Weather fantastic. Cottage is lovely - Great location. Thank you Alison for making us feel so welcome and for you advise on local walks and places to eat and drink. We had originally planned a walking holiday but with the weather being so hot we spent most of our time on the beach, with a few woodland walks. Wished we could of stayed longer, Thank you
Cottage is wonderful, location excellent for beach and cliff walks! Will definately return - relaxed and reluctant to go home!!
Weather has been wonderful. Accomodation very comfortable. Pembrokeshire is beautiful and we will return next year!
We seem to have picked a perfect week weather-wise. Glorious warm sunshine that made an October day feel like August. Highlights? Wonderful beach walks with Cal (the dog) and Meredith (18mnths) enjoyed splashing in her first waves; Splendid sunsets at Newgale; and of course the welcome of our hosts! Thankyou! Diolch! P.S. Meredith loved your little sheep. As she says "Baaa!"
Highlight of our 16th visit to The Dovecote was the Havenlink ferry bus, Dale to Lawrenny and back on a glorious day. Also a visit to the lost world of Gwaun Valley and beer out of a jug at Bessie's Pub in Pontfaen. As always the cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped with a wonderful welcome from Alison (owner). Thankyou once again, see you in May 2010!
It would seem, on reading this 'historical' document, that the Welsh weather has been true to form and we have done our best to dodge the rain between showers! We have had a thoroughly enjoyable week both in and out and will certainly be returning to this part of Wales as we ran out of time to visit all the attractions in the area or indeed to build a sandcastle on the many beautiful nearby beaches. Highlight of the week: Folly Farm! Perfect for young children - indoor & outdoor fun. The old fashioned funfair rides brought back happy childhood memories for us too! Whatever the weather - enjoy your stay; we did!
With no sign of sunshine in the sky our drive into the driveway of this wonderful little cottage certainly put a smile on our faces!! The children loved their little attic bedroom and playing with Bobby the dog. Although the weather really hasnt been on our side this week we seemed to have packed a lot it! Newgale beach - what a find - the surfers and kite surfers are amazing! Clerkenhill Adventure Farm - a really great spot for little ones! National Botanic Gardens - bit of a drive but a lovely visit and nice for kids to roam! Creative Cafe Haverfordwest and Narbeth - Great for a rainy day, do book, lovely atmosphere there! Sloop Inn, Porthgain - lovely little place for dinner in this little fishing village, do book! Carew Castle & Pembroke Castle - These were both really good, kids loved running round them and climbing. Both good value for money! A trip to Hilton Court is worth it, the little restaurant is great for lunch or cream teas. The gardens and pottery look great too! Also the Pemberton Chocolate Farm! All in all a great week had by all with 2 very exhausted but happy children!!
Thankyou for a most enjoyable stay. We found the cottage very clean and well equipped, an excellent base for exploring one of our favourite holiday haunts.
What a lovely warm welcome awaiting us when we arrived. The bottle of wine was just what the doctor ordered. We have had a wonderful 2 weeks. Thankyou and see you again!

Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. We know the delights of this part of Wales. The warm hospitality just deepened our love of the area. Having walked lots of coastal paths we leave with memories of smashing views, lots of birds' songs and sightings! Diolch Yn Fawr Iawn!

A gorgeous part of the world - we'll be back. Thank you.
Well equipped, warm and cosy cottage - our second stay. Great walk from cottage across fields, through wood to coastal path. Great for dogs! Saw lots of baby seals from coastal path (opposite Skomer and Ramsey Islands)Our highlight was mother seal teaching baby to swim at Marloes Deer Park.
We've enjoyed a lovely week at this very welcoming cottage. Weather may have been up and down but it hasn't stopped us enjoying the lovely beaches at Broad Haven and along this coast. Had fun at scolton Manor on a damp day and a great day out at Tenby and Caldey Island, finding some spectacular scenery - including an amazing picnic spot on the way to Bosherston - a real hidden gem overlooking Caldey. Looking forward to returning soon. Thank you.
After our lovely week last year we decided to enjoy 2 weeks this year. We've had a magnificent time both in and around The Dovecote. Two weeks passed far too quickly!!
The Dovecote is a well equipped, cost little cottage inan idyllic spot! Good walks, superb beaches and beautiful scenery all around. Stackpole Head, Marloes beach and Strumble Head all well worth a visit. We have walked a good bit of the coastal path and are taking home one very tired dog!

Lovely, warm, comfortable, cosy cottage, extremely well equipped. weather very good for the time of year. Magnificent sunset.
Thank you again for a wonderful stay at The Dovecote. This is our second stay here and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. We had good weather for October and we were able to visit all our favourite beaches and attractions. The St Brides Inn at Little Haven and The Masons Arms at Dreen Hill serve fabulous food, both well worth a visit. We hope to be back soon with our new addition to the Yarnold family.
An excellent relaxing holiday in a lovely cottage. Great walks, lovely beaches and fantastic weather. Thanks.
A lovely, snug little cottage. We particularly liked to be ablt to take Rosie for walks straight from the cottage. There are some excellent footpaths. Favourite day out - the lily ponds at Stackpole Estate at Bosherston. There is a 6 mile walk that includes the ponds, cliffs and two superb beaches. We must revisit the ponds in the spring when the waterlillies are all in flower. Thank ou for providing a map.
Best equipped cottage we've ever stayed in.
We have had a most enjoyable week at the Dovecote. Thank you for making us so welcome. We enjoyed the farming 'chat' and the surrounding countryside. This is the best equipped cottage that we have stayed in and we hope to see you again. Thank you both very much.
We introduce our grandsons to the pleasures of sandcastles, rock pools, kite flying and counting bats in the lane. Brought back many happy memories. The boys loved their loft bedroom too.
We came for a restful break - PERFECT. Cottage so comfy and peaceful. Thanks a lot!
A very thoughtfully equipped cottage - especially for the children (books, videos, etc.) A lovely week - the kids loved Oakwood, Heron's Brook and the beaches.
Fantastic cottage owned by wonderful people. Great time had by all especially baby Caspar.
